SWAT has 2 modes to test your skills in. Objective Mode, which has 5 difficulties you choose at the beginning, or survival mode which scales in difficulty the longer you survive. This section is designed for Guides and Tips on how to beat each difficulty. For more information on games modes and objectives see the official SWAT site.


Objective Modes

SWAT's core game mode requires players to complete three objectives in order to win. One of five difficulties is selected at the start of the game. The game ends in defeat if the last surviving hero dies, even if other support units are still alive. Victorious games award much more rank experience and unlock rank caps for heroes who hadn't yet beaten the played difficulty level.

Players are required to repair Reactors, reduce Radiation, and rescue Civilians. How far these objectives must be achieved is determined by the difficulty.

There are also two hidden difficulties, Nightmare and Extinction. Choosing Nightmare requires players to select Insane and load characters at rank 11 or 12, with at least one player at rank 11. Choosing Extinction requires all players at rank 12 in an Insane.

Unlocking characters to rank 11 requires Perfect Insane - two objectives overachieved to the amount listed across from Perfect in the table above, the third being completed to its standard amount (listed across Insane above), and all Hazmats cleared in under ~62 minutes. Nightmare and Extinction require Perfect for all objectives and beating Nemesis. Extinction further requires all Hazmats to be sold, but still does not have the time limit of Perfect Insane.

Survival

Survival mode can be selected when the game starts instead of voting for a difficulty level. This bonus mode is included for players who simply want to kill stuff. Heroes can earn rank experience in Survival but cannot unlock rank caps. There are no primary objectives in this mode except to stay alive until dawn of Day 3 (44 minutes), although Civilians can be rescued for additional funds.
